Year 3 Day 51- Thanks Halloween

by admin on November 1st, 2005

Well due to the fact our school is full of more students who would rather drink, smoke, smash pumpkins, and steal candy than get a good nights sleep, our numbers today are VERY low…I had classes of 5, 2, 7, 2, and 7.

So, thanks to what’s surely becoming the most irrelevant “holiday” of the year, my class sizes were pleasantly small. I really don’t care about Halloween much anymore, and judging by the sheer lack of trick or treaters that came to my house last night, nobody else does either. I remember back in the day, when I used to trick or treat…there would be hordes of kids out…and people would actually run out of candy…I mean now…it is actually scarier to walk out with your kids, because there isn’t very many people out…and it’s dark.

My kids can dress up like cowboys on other days, and still get candy from someone…so Halloween is pretty useless as far as our family is concerned. We’re slowly scaling it back, so hopefully in a couple years we won’t even have to go.

My point, I guess…the only ones who really care about Halloween now are the people in the pumpkin or candy business, and the kids who attend a school like mine and need a reason to drink and be mischievous.

I guess 5 people got suspended from yesterday’s post assembly-near-riot. Of course, it’s been the talk of the school all day. According to rumors, there were pies thrown in faces, tears shed, videos taken, and fights threatened. I missed it all standing in line at McMorons.

Nowadays, Halloween is little more than an excuse for women to dress up like hookers and strippers for drunken costume parties.

Agreed. I haven’t liked Halloween in years… however… I had fun one time in Chico on Halloween!
