Year 2 Day 129- Beyond the hills…a glitter of hope

by admin on March 16th, 2005

I just sent off my letter to the district telling them my desire to return to the other high school next year to teach art. Their art teacher is retiring. This is the only real step I have. I just send them my resume, and a letter saying, HEY I want that job. Now the ball is in their court so to speak. They’ll have to grant me an interview by contract rules, and I’ll go from there. The way I look at it is, I’m the best person IN this district for that job. I’ve been there previously for 3 years. I know their system. I know my subject. I know most of their staff. It would be an easy plug in for me. The only thing that could keep me from it is if someone at the district level, or on their staff had an objection. If that’s the case, then it’s a personal reason, and I really have no control over that. I’d like to go back there as opposed to being here next year, teaching classes I detest. We’ll see.

I’ve also heard of another school with an art opening as well. I’m friends with their vice-principal. It would be a big change for me, new district, new everything…kind of scary. I might even drop down the pay scale some… although, for a chance to start over, from scratch… that might be nice. I’ll apply for that as well.

If this district doesn’t give me the chance to go over there, then I’m taking it personally. I’ll try hard and get that job at the other school…once there I’ll make it my personal vendetta to make that the jewel of art depts…and rub it back at this district every chance I get.
