Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

by admin on August 9th, 2004

Summer is almost officially over. I got my iwelcome backi letter in the mail the other day. The iwelcome backi letter isn’t very pleasant. It reminds you, how much you make a year, how long you’ve been doing the job, what the job is you’re doing, how much MORE the insurance will cost, etc. The superintendent puts a little note in the envelope that s says; Hey we’ve hired a lot of fantastic people over the summer, and did a whole lot of fantastic repairs to all the schools in the district except yours, and in fact, we didn’t do a damn thing to make your job any easier this year. Welcome back. Enjoy.

The letter is depressing because once you sign and return it, you’re locked in to another school year in the same district, doing the same thing you did before. I always procrastinate returning the letter because, as soon as it goes back, I’m stuck, and the dreams of finding that last minute miracle job are put on hold for another year. I haven’t sent it in yet. I didn’t even have any promising leads this summer. Welcome back. Enjoy.

I’m a little rejuvenated this year. I’m not knocking the door down excited or anything, but I’m ready to try again, see if I can get any better, or enjoy my job any more. I’m going into this year with the attitude that there’s nothing I can do about it once the year starts, so I should try and make the best of it and hope the year goes by quick, and my hard work is rewarded with a new career, or new teaching position. Welcome back. Enjoy.

I haven’t started thinking about what kind of kids I’m going to have, or how I’m going to organize my classes. I still have 2 weeks left. I plan on saving as much of that mental anguish as I can for August 19th, my first iofficiali day at school. I’m going to try and maximize my remaining days off with rest, and relaxation. I’m trying NOT to think about school, because other than a considerably faster Internet connection, there’s not much else I’m looking forward to. Welcome back. Enjoy.

I hope this year I can get my readership up a considerable amount. I plan on adding some photographs this year, perhaps a mailbag (if I get more than 30 readers), and hopefully a few other things to make the site more interesting. But really, I kind of hoped I wouldn’t have to write about this place anymore, but… welcome back. Enjoy.
